On a sad note, we have to announce that one of our Sponsor Hounds, Owney, had to be put to sleep on Friday 18th November 2011.

Very handsome Owney came back to our kennels following a lengthy stay in a home. He had two tumours on his jaw, which were checked by the vets. As he was not in any pain it was decided to keep him at the kennels as a sponsor hound so that we could monitor his condition. He remained very happy and gentle with visiting families that came to walk him.

As we reported in last weeks kennel news he had become increasingly frail and when Alison took him to see our vet, Tom, he indicated that he could feel a mass in his stomach. There was nothing that could be done but to let him go and he went peacefully to sleep in Alisons arms.

Rest in peace sweet boy.
