Cherry (aka Killeacle Red - ex Jizabo Painter)
Born - 24/07/01 RIP 30/04/12
Cherry fell ill last week and was taken into the vets for tests where it was found her spleen had enlarged. She had an operation to remove her spleen on Wednesday and despite a fully successful op she didn't really recover well and stayed with the vet for some intensive care. On Monday morning we got the call to say Cherry's kidneys and liver were both failing. We rushed over to be able to hold her as she was gently put to rest.
This poem says it all:
An extra muzzle, an extra bowl,
An extra leash, a gaping hole
In all our hearts, in all our souls...
An extra bed, an extra seat
We're missing four essential feet.
Our house is now so incomplete...
An extra collar, an extra space,
An extra treat to see her face.
So empty now, this crowded place...
This bed, this bowl, this muzzle, this leash
Remind us, though we shake with grief
You run in heaven, stars at your feet...
Someday, again, my friend, we'll meet.

Gone from our side
but never far from our hearts.
