After the slow start to the year in terms of rehoming, as we said in last week’s news, things have picked up and this last week several hounds have found their new homes and families. These...

Thank goodness, at last we have 'Homers' (as we affectionately call families looking for a hound!) calling us and coming along to the kennels. It has been so quiet that we were all getting...

Hopefully by now you have put the date of this year's Great Greyhound Gathering in your diaries. We are delighted that Nottingham Racecourse has again invited us to hold our annual event there on Saturday 18th September.
This will be the fourth year of the event, and a big thank you must go to everyone who helped make 2009 such a success. We estimated around 3000 people and an incredible 800 dogs (mainly greyhounds) joined us in Nottingham last year, travelling from all around the country, to show what wonderful, well-behaved pets greyhounds are.
Plans are well under way to ensure we have another memorable day on 18th September, and we hope you and your volunteers will be able to join us again this year.
We intend to follow a similar format to last year, and although details are still being formalised, there will be something there for every member of the family (and especially our four legged friends) to enjoy, with trade stands, lunchtime entertainment, and of course our ever popular dog show.
As always we are looking for extra helpers to ensure the day runs smoothly, and if you know of anyone who would like to volunteer an hour or so of their time to help out, please ask them to contact me direct.
We are honoured to have Crufts' judges along again this year who will be looking for the greyhound who most closely resembles the show standard to be chosen as the RGT Retired Greyhound of the Year, and each branch registered with the RGT is asked to nominate one greyhound rehomed by them no later than 30th June 2010 as their entry for the GOTY competition.
GGG 2010 is again being co-ordinated by Kim Holmes from Worcester RGT, and if you can help in any way, or need any more information, please contact Kim on
