The Monmore Green Retired Greyhound Trust started its Royal Wedding celebrations today when it welcomed two new retired greyhounds to its kennels and named them after Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Alison Bandurak, from the Trust's kennels in Essington, said: "Every greyhound has a racing name, but they are usually quite a mouthful and not very family friendly. So we always give them a pet name when they arrive at the kennels. With the Royal Wedding just a week away and some newly retired dogs arriving at our kennels this week, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to the Royal couple.

"Kate and Willls need loving homes to go to and it would be a double celebration if we could find them a new family in time for the special day. We would appeal to anyone who is considering a dog for a pet to consider Kate, Wills or one of their greyhound pals in our kennels," she added.
