The Great British Greyhound Walk

Monmore RGT Event

Hello everybody

I’m organising a greyhound walk for the Monmore branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust. It will take place on Sunday 20th June. This is a special day because it coincides with the National ‘Great British Greyhound Walk’ – so all over the country beautiful greyhounds will be taking their owners for a walk to raise awareness of how great it is to have a greyhound (or two) in your home.

The walk will take place at:

Brindley Heath, Marquis Drive, Cannock Chase, Staffordshire  WS12 4PW

We will be meeting outside the Visitor Centre between 10 a.m. and 10.15a.m. - the walk will start at 10.30.

There is a car park on site - £1 for 3 hours and there is also an overflow car park nearby.

There is a café on site selling hot snacks and homemade cakes. Toilets are on site too and there is a children’s play area at the back of the Visitor Centre.

The walk will take approximately 40 minutes – most of it is quite flat but there is one steep section near the end. Please wear suitable clothes and shoes.

Please note that because this walk is part of the national event it is open to Greyhounds and Lurchers only.  (If this is successful we are hoping to organise future walks to include other breeds of dogs which you may have.)

Dogs must be on the lead at all times – needless to say all poo must be picked up.

The walk is a chance to meet other greyhound owners and maybe make some new friends. A couple of weeks ago we had a practice walk and we had ten greyhounds with us – it goes without saying that their behaviour was superb - passers by showed a lot of interest in them. Just think what an amazing sight fifty plus greyhounds would make!

Please come and join us with your handsome hounds. You will be made very welcome.     Let’s make our walk really special and at the same time highlight the fact that,

‘Greyhounds Make Wonderful Pets.’

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 20th June

Carole
